Summary

This odd combination of European-style melodrama and old Hollywood-style musical tells a very dark story effectively, despite writer/director Lars von Trier’s decision to use a visually unpleasant documentary style. Singer-songwriter Bjork is remarkably naturalistic in the lead role.
