Summary

A turn-of-the-20th-Century New York socialite finds her life of ease threatened by bad luck, bad timing and a little bad habit, in this stylish adaptation of the Edith Wharton novel. Gillian Anderson’s lead performance is eye-opening, as the deliberately-paced film proceeds from light comedy of manners to romantic tragedy.
