Summary

This 21st century Hamlet, set in a visually bland Manhattan corporate world, is an unconvincingly abridgement of Shakespeare’s first great tragedy. Director Almereyda is unable to shape the remaining text into a focused and unified piece of compelling cinema, while Ethan Hawke is only intermittently effective as the brooding prince.
